Day Two: Ateos

We'll be in Ateos for two more days, so I may run out of material, here, but I'll try to keep it going.

First of all, I will say that the water filters haven't been delivered yet - they are arriving Monday, so I should have some photos to share of those tomorrow. Deliveries of the water filters will start on Tuesday.

We had a little unwanted drama as we lost a suitcase of medications... again... On Saturday, it turned out to be buried under some other luggage in the exam room. Today, however, it turned out to have been left behind at the retreat center. Oops. At least it's a short drive back. So Jackie and Ken went with the truck driver to pick it up. Here they are, returning in triumph.

The triage situation in Ateos was way less cramped, as you can see here.

Same for the patient waiting area, which is located under a huge tree, providing great shade. Still, I can't believe how much patience people have to sit there for effectively the whole day, waiting for their chance just to talk to a doctor and get some medications.

Apparently, a lot of folks can get a certain amount of government health care, but it's a huge help to have referral forms from a primary care physician, so that's actually one of the services we offer.

Aside from the AWOL medications, the pharmacy was working like a well-oiled machine.

The occupational therapy station is always good for at least one fantastic photo op. Our two OT's are a very popular stop.

And of course, I was doing portraits again.

Also, we were very excited to learn that we were having pupusas tonight! (I didn't take a photo - google them?) Hey - it's Sunday, and it's St. Paddy's day, let's  go for it! And they make this amazing cocoa drink that doesn't have any milk in it, and is spiced with something, maybe cinnamon. Maybe even a little pepper? It's so good!

The real test for us will be tomorrow, when we have our first full day, and see three hundred or more patients!
